The American Reason Party - The Nation's Next Major Political Party

The Rise of the Reasonists

In the recent past, we’ve watched many Tea Party candidates rise to power in our nation’s political system. We’ve seen basic civil rights denied over and over again. We sit back and complain as public policies are created based on peoples’ religious beliefs. Around the world, we’ve witnessed history in the making in Egypt and elsewhere through civilian uprisings.

Now … it’s our turn. Our time has come.

Organizing the Reasonists

Many people say it’s impossible to organize atheists, free thinkers and other rational, intelligent adults because they each are very opinionated, and we would never be able to get them to agree on any issue. Our response to that is simple: if that’s true, they’re not as smart as they think. We’ve also been told that starting a new political party would only hurt the Democratic Party … the party which is usually more in-line with most free thinkers’ philosophies of government and its responsibilities.

We don’t believe that is a concern either. Not if The American Reason Party grows as strong as we believe it can. It can pull in members who consider themselves Independent, many Progressives will jump on board, liberal and centrist Democrats fed up with the current regime will join, centrist and left-leaning Republicans tired of faith-based politics will convert, as well as those from other groups who share a passion and understanding for Constitutionally-based government as something more than just political propaganda. The American Reason Party will be the third major party in the United States. It will be comprised of “reasonists” from all walks of life.

Historically, organizing a significant political party in the United States is not easy. But that doesn’t mean it can’t be done. It’s not going to happen overnight, but every significant event in history has a starting point. This is OUR starting point. It may take months, years or even decades to take hold, but with dedication, perseverance and hard work, we can make it happen.

Uniting the Reasonists

There are hundreds, perhaps even thousands, of splintered activist and free thought change-minded groups in the U.S. Most of them have explicit purposes and each may or may not be effective in their own rights. But what we lack is a centralized political party to bring all of those groups and their members together to achieve mutually agreed upon goals. We don’t have our own platform; we don’t have a political convention; we aren’t on ballots with our own candidates. That’s all about to change. The reasonists have arrived.

The American Reason Party is how we will secure our place in the political system, gain the power we need to re-establish such Constitutional principles as the complete separation of church and state, and return our nation from an aristocracy to a democracy … one city council seat, followed by one state office position, followed by one Congressional seat, followed by the Presidency … baby steps.

Connecting the Reasonists

Use the “Newsletter” link in the menu at the right to get your name on the newsletter mailing list and be informed of The American Reason Party’s progress in becoming a legitimate political party and keep tabs on what the reasonists are involved in. Use the “Donate” button if you would like to help financially with maintenance of this website and help the party begin its growth from infancy into childhood and beyond. Use the “Join” button if you would like to become a member of the party, contribute financially to its growth, or have a significant voice in its development. There is no charge to become a Reasonist, but membership levels range from free all the way to the “Platinum Donor” level membership. All members (free or paid donors) have a vote in establishing party leadership and in other situations that require a membership vote.

How many people have to go unemployed and hungry before we take action? How many gay youth have to commit suicide before we are motivated? How many elections have to be bought by corporations before we become defiant? There is more we can do besides vote and then sit back and watch what goes on in our political system. Do it for yourself … do it for your children … do it for your grandchildren … do it for your country … but do it. The gray party has arrived, and our time is NOW! Become a reasonist today.
